From a legal perspective, the definition of “industrial hemp” in the USA as per Section 7606 of the Agricultural Appropriations Act of 2014 is as follows: “The term ‘‘industrial hemp’’ means the plant Cannabis sativa L. and any part of such plant, whether growing or not, with a delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9 THC) concentration of no more than 0.3 percent on a dry weight basis.”
